It means that not only does God love him, but the God of all glory, Jesus Christ, Baptism in the Holy Ghost: Its Meaning for Believersdwells in him through this baptism in the Holy Ghost. It means that he shall never leave him or forsake him. It means he is forever secure and that the Spirit of God seals him until the day of redemption.

  • Ephesians 1:13-14, “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.”

The Spirit itself bearing witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.”

Third, the Baptism in the Holy Ghost also means that God through Jesus Christ has empowered his people to witness for Jesus.

  • Acts 1:8, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

Not only does Jesus save us to the uttermost and cause us to become the children of God, but he gives us a purpose in our new life. And that purpose is the ministry of reconciliation. That we might be partakers with Christ in sharing the glorious gospel of Christ and proclaiming his great love and mercy toward mankind.

  • Hebrews 10:15-17, “Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he said before This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; and their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.”

Baptism in the Holy Ghost: Believers Drawn to God

Finally, the Baptism in the Holy Ghost means that God has drawn every true believer to himself. That every one who receives Jesus Christ has a personal relationship with God Almighty. A relationship that can never be broken! Praise God!

  • John 10:27-29, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater that all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.”

May God be praised for this first witness.
