Christian Hope – Resurrection from the Dead
Christian Hope – Resurrection of the Dead Brings Joy in Sadness
Nothing stirs the heart of a Christian more than the Christian Hope, which is the Resurrection of the Dead. It is t
he resurrection that gives the Christian hope in the midst of trials and tribulations, joy in the midst of sadness, peace in the midst of conflict. Paul states in I Corinthians 15:19 we must look to our Christian hope of eternal life for true peace.
- I Corinthians 15:19, “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.”
Christian Hope – Resurrection of the Dead is our Inheritance Incorruptible
It is only whan a believer focuses on the Christian hope that true peace can be accomplished in this world. The resurrection of the dead is our Christian Hope and incorruptible inheritance.
- I Peter 1:3-4, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled, and that fadeth not away reserved in heaven for you,”
Christian Hope – Resurrection from the Dead: Only Jesus Gives Hope
Only Jesus Christ, the Son of God, gave his life as the perfect sacrifice for sin, conquered death, and rose from the grave to give eternal life to all his followers! This Christian hope can only be received by faith in Jesus Christ.
- Romans 1:3-4, “Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:”
- John 11:25-26, “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?”
- John 17:1-3, “These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”
Christian Hope – Resurrection from the Dead: Gives Power to Faith
It is the Christian hope that gives power to faith. The scripture is very clear that it was the hope of eternal life through the resurrection that gave the holy men and women of God strength to endue. Their hope was not in themselves, but it was in hope of eternal life.
- Hebrews 11:5-6, “By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; AND WAS NOT FOUND, BECAUSE GOD HAD TRANSLATED HIM: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob gained strength by looking to the resurrection.
- Hebrews 11:10, “For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.”
- Hebrews 11:13-16, “These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for hath prepared for them a city.”
Moses gained strength by looking to the resurrection.
- Hebrews 11:25-26, “By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompense of the reward.”
Other men and women of God were strengthened in their faith by looking to the resurrection.
- Hebrews 11:35, “Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverence; that they might obtain a better resurrection:”
Christian Hope – Resurrection from the Dead: Jesus Gained Strength from the Resurrection
Jesus Christ himself, our savior, endured the cross by looking to the resurrection. He is our example to give the Christian hope in life’s toughest trials.
- Hebrews 12:1-2, “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Finally, we as Christians do not have to run to and fro looking for Jesus. HE WILL COME FOR US. Wherever we are and whatever we are doing he will find us and draw us to himself in the air, in the clouds. Our Christian hope is secure and eternal.
- I Thessalonians 4:13-18, “But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”
Christian Hope provides strength in trials; Christian Hope brings joy in sadness; Christian Hope provides peace in conflict. Jesus Christ, our Lord, provides strength to endure all life’s hardships if we will only keep our minds staid on our Christian Hope.
- Revelation 22:20, “…Even so, come Lord Jesus.”
May the joy of the Christian Hope, our Resurrection from the Dead be upon all you hearts.
In Christ
