Faith Toward God – Seeking God -
Faith Toward God: What is the Result of Faith?
- I Peter 1:1-2, “Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered
throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.”
- Romans 1:5, “By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name.”
It is clear by the above verses that obedience and the testimony of Jesus Christ are the result of faith toward God.
Faith Toward God: Understanding
The Christian must first learn that until a person repents and accepts Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, he can never understand God’s word, or God’s will for his life. It is only through faith in the atoning death and blood of Jesus Christ that the blindness of the world, (through a carnal mind), is healed and true spiritual sight is given.
- Romans 8:5-7, “For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.”
Faith Toward God: Walk of Faith
Now that the darkness is past for the Christian, it is time to begin his pilgrimage, or walk of faith. What is the goal of this pilgrimage? To seek God’s face!
- Hebrews 11:6, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
It is important for the Christian to be aware that the walk of faith does not consist of seeking things from God, but in seeking the very God who supplies all things.
- I Corinthians 4:6, “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of the darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”
Faith Toward God: Great Reward
If the Christian diligently seeks HIM there is great reward.
- I Corinthians 2:9, “But as it is written, EYE HATH NOT SEEN, NOR EAR HEARD, NEITHER HAVE ENTERED INTO THE HEART OF MAN, THE THINGS WHICH GOD HATH PREPARED FOR THEM THAT LOVE HIM.”
What is the purpose of the Christian’s pilgrimage, or walk? TO SEEK GOD! We cannot possibly seek God in our own strength. That is why God gives us the tools to serve him.
These things will be discussed in the next blogs, beginning with the third principle of the Doctrine of Jesus Christ, the Doctrine of the Baptisms.
