Principles of Christ – Overview

Principles of Christ: Basic Bible Doctrine

Every Believer is instructed by God through his written word, the Bible, to learn the 6 Principles of Christ.

  • Hebrews 5:12-14, “For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that The Principles of Christ are only found in the Holy Bible.one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.”

  • Hebrews 6:1-2, “Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

Principles of Christ: Learn and Build on Them

It is obvious by these verses that God expects Christians to learn the principles of Christ and build on them.  Salvation is not the end, it is only the beginning.

The Bible makes it very clear that discernment only comes through use of God’s Word.  And God’s Word, the Bible, says growth must begin with the six principles of Christ.   Building upon the principles of Christ is essential for the new Christian.  There is no other way to grow in Christ.

Principles of Christ: The Six Principles

The Bible is very clear in announcing the Principles of Christ.

They are:

  • Repentance from dead works
  • Faith toward God
  • Doctrine of baptisms
  • Laying on of hands
  • Resurrection of the dead
  • Eternal judgment

These six principles of Christ are the foundation that every Christian should build upon.  I’ll write on the principles of Christ in the following posts.

Principles of Christ: Check Everything Against the Scriptures in the Bible

I do not ask you to believe what I write, but I do ask you to check out the things I say in the word. The Bible tells us to check out everything with the word of God.  God’s word even calls people more noble for doing so.

  • Acts 17:11, “These were more noble than those in Thes-sa-lo-ni’ca, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”
