Repentance from Dead Works was Important to Jesus. –

Repentance from Dead Works is the first principle of the Doctrine of Jesus Christ. (based on Hebrews 6:1-2)  Is Repentance from Dead Works important to Jesus?

  • Luke 13:1-5, “There were present at that season some that told Repentance from Dead Works was Important to Jesus.him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all Galilaeans, because they suffered such things? I tell you Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower of Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”

Jesus knew all men would perish without repentance from dead works.

How important was the doctrine of repentance from dead works to Jesus?   Jesus’s first message was about repentance.

  • Matthew 4:17, “From that time Jesus began to preach, and say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
  • Mark 1:14-15, “Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”

The Doctrine of Repentance from Dead Works is central to the Doctrine of Jesus Christ.

  • Matthew 9:13, “But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

Who needs repentance? Sinners! And who are sinners? Every person.

  • Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God;”
  • Romans 5:12, “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”

It is evident that Jesus calls all sinners to repentance. And that every person is a sinner.
