The Trinity of God – Understanding the Holy Ghost

The Trinity of God – Understanding The Holy Ghost: Part 4 of 5

The Trinity of God – Understanding The Holy Ghost: Breath of Life

We have seen how the Father, the first person in the trinity of God,  is the invisible soul of God. He imparts the will of God and his love for his creation.

  • John 5:30, “I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and myThe Trinity of God - Understanding the Holy Ghost: Breath of Life judgment is just: because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.”

The Son, Jesus Christ, the second person in the trinity of God, is the body of God and performs the very will of the Father. He is the personality of God that physically created the universe and that physically carries out the will of the Father because in him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.

  • Colosians 2:9, “For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.”

Finally, we see how the Holy Ghost, the third person of the trinity of God,  is the Spirit of God. The Spirit of God is the life giving personality of God. He is the breath of life that gives life to God’s creation.

  • Genesis 2:7, “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”
  • John 20:21-22, “Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me,even so I send you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:”

The Trinity of God – Understanding the Holy Ghost: Imparted by Jesus Christ

It is important to realize that the Holy Ghost, (or Spirit of God), can only be imparted by Jesus Christ.

  • Genesis 1:2, “…And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.”

Genesis 1:2 reveals that the Spirit of God only moves upon the face of the waters, Jesus Christ.

  • Revelation 1:15, reveals Jesus as the face of the waters, “And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.”

The Holy Ghost, the third person of the trinity of God, will only move upon the face of the waters, Jesus Christ. It is the Father who sends the Holy Ghost in Jesus name. God’s Holy Spirit cannot be imparted in any other name.

  • John 14:23-26, “Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me. These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”
  • Mark 1:8, “I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.

The Trinity of God – Understanding the Holy Ghost: Testifies of Jesus

  • John 15:26, “But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me;”

The Trinity of God – Understanding the Holy Ghost: Man a Triune Being

Just as we see man, who was created in God’s image, is a triune being with:
Soul
Body
Spirit

The Trinity of God – Understanding the Holy Ghost: God a Triune Being

So we see that God:

The Father (the soul of God)
The Son, Jesus Christ, (the body of God)
The Holy Ghost, (the Spirit of God)

Are joined in perfect unity.

We must remember that God is so much more than we can possibly know or think, but we can know the things of God that he chooses to show us through his word.
