Tragedy of Abel and Cain – Cain Builds Enoch: Cain’s City

Cain decided he didn’t need God. Cain created his own works.

• Genesis 4:17-18, “And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare E’noch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city after the name of his son, E’noch. And unto E’noch was born I’rad: and I’rad begat Me-hu’ja-el: and Me-hu’ja-el begat Me-thusa-el: and Me-thusa-el begat La’mech.”

Tragedy of Abel and Cain – Cain Builds Enoch: Looks are Deceiving

After Cain left the presence of God he built the city Enoch which is named after his son. It seems that Cain was able to prosper without God in his life, but looks can be deceiving.

• Jude 1:10-13, “But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Ba’laam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Co’re. These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.“

It is evident from God’s word, that those who reject God, as Cain did, will be forever damned. No amount of works can save any man.

Tragedy of Abel and Cain – Cain Builds Enoch: A Choice

God created mankind to be an eternal being. Man can either chose grace that comes from God through Jesus Christ, or he will choose the blackness of anguish forever.

Let us all repent and turn to Christ that we may know eternal joy.
