Tragedy of Abel and Cain – Deception

Tragedy of Abel and Cain – Deception

Tragedy of Abel and Cain – Deception: Hidden Sin

What is Cain’s deception?  He tried to hide his sin from God. He tried to hide his sin just as Adam tried to hide his sin. No one can hide sin from God.

Genesis 4:9-12, “And the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, ITragedy of Abel and Cain: Deception - Sin will find you out. know not: Am I my brother’s keeper? And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto me from the ground. And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother’s blood from thy hand; When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength, a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.”

The thing that is so terrible about these verses is that the Lord gave Cain a chance to repent of his sin, but Cain in anger replies, “Am I my brother’s keeper?”

Tragedy of Abel and Cain – Deception: God is Merciful

God who is of tender mercy and forgiveness would have forgiven Cain if he had confessed his sin and repented.

I John 1:8-10, “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”

Tragedy of Abel and Cain – Deception: Sin Will Find You Out.

Cain tried to hide his sin from God. Nothing can be hidden from God. This is the problem with mankind from the beginning. Adam hid in the garden. Cain asked, “Am I my brother’s keeper?” Today every excuse is given, but repentance is not sought. Today, men even say there is no God to hide their sin.

Be assured of this one thing. Sin will find you out.

Hebrews 4:12-13, “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and open unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

Tragedy of Abel and Cain – Deception: Calling God a Liar

If a person does not repent and accept the Lord Jesus, he is calling God a liar, and God’s wrath rests on him.

I John 5:10-11, “He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.”

If a person repents and calls on the name of the Lord, Jesus, God is merciful and kind and will forgive sin. If we do not repent and confess our sins we are calling God a liar.

I John 1:9-10, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”

Tragedy of Abel and Cain – Deception: Our Choices

These are the choices set before man. Repentance and Salvation through Jesus Christ or deception through pride and eternal damnation. There are no other choices.

It is my prayer that all who read these words will repent and call on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
